This course consists of 16 hours of lecture and practical work, based on the intervention and prevention of spine pathology. The curriculum provides and in-depth approach to Pilates-evolved interventions for acute to chronic discogenic patterns, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, pre and post-surgical conditions, facet dysfunctions, degenerative disc disease, sacroiliac and pelvic girdle dysfunction. It also integrates the therapist's manual skills into the Polestar repertoire (for course participants who are registered medical professionals).
By the end of the course, therapists will be able to design a treatment plan in a fully equipped Pilates studio, successfully facilitating exercise with manual therapy skills and constructively critique their outcome. Fitness instructors will be able to design an exercise plan taking into consideration the common pathologies listed above, and use higher level tactile interventions within their scope of practice to bring about change in postˆrehabilitative clients.
